UC sustainable farming systems field day June 22
DAVIS – Soil, water and energy on the farm are the focus of the 19th annual field day of the UC Davis Sustainable Agriculture Farming Systems (SAFS) project. The event takes place this year on a cooperating grower's farm in Woodland.

Sustainable farming systems field day June 22
DAVIS – A 19-year-old farming comparison project at the UC Davis Russell Ranch, which has shown that cover crops and conservation tillage are useful techniques for developing sustainable agricultural systems, will be in the spotlight at an annual field day and open house, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 22.

Sustainable ag field day showcases experiments (Reprinted from the Davis Enterprise)
UC Davis researchers are studying farming techniques such as reduced tillage, the use of cover
crops in winter and underground drip irrigation to reduce weeds and pests, cut costs and lessen
environmental impacts without decreasing yields.

Sustainable farming systems field day June 23
Conservation tillage updates, water quality research data and a grower panel will be showcased
at the 17-year-old farming comparison project at UC Davis' Russell Ranch on June 23. The
Russell Ranch is home to long-term agriculture studies and provides a living laboratory for
students and the new Agricultural Sustainability Institute at UC Davis.

2005 Conservation Tillage Farm Tours (June 16, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
This year's conservation tillage (CT) conferences, sponsored by the UC/NRCS
Conservation Tillage Workgroup, will feature tours of San Joaquin Valley cotton,
tomato and dairy forage farms using a wide range of conservation tillage
practices. CT 2005 continues the tradition of providing state-of-the-art
information on CT systems being evaluated throughout the Valley.

Conservation tillage sustainable ag field day showcases research
Beautiful weather and fresh produce from local farmers provided the backdrop for
a successful conservation tillage/sustainable agriculture field day at
UC Davis’ Russell Ranch in June. The field day highlighted research
results and the evolution of UCD’s 16-year Sustainable Agriculture
Farming Systems (SAFS) project into a conservation tillage experiment.

The focus of the University of California's annual Conservation Tillage
Conference, Sept. 8 and 9 at the UC Westside Research and Extension Center

Conservation tillage comparison emerges from 16-year study of sustainable farming practices
DAVIS -- A new location and purpose for a successful 16-year-old farming
comparison project at UC Davis will be revealed at a field day June 24. The
study of alternative practices, which has helped change the way Sacramento
Valley farmers grow field crops, has evolved into a farming systems experiment
focused on conservation tillage.
